If you are a young person reading this, well done for making a first step, it takes bravery.

I've worked with lots of young people experiencing different things like anxiety, depression, bereavement, bullying or recovering from a trauma.

Everyone will go through difficult things at some point in their lives and it's normal to find things particularly challenging when you’re growing up. We will work together to find a way to help you express what has happened to you which might feel uncomfortable, painful or hard to explain.

We start with a first session to see how we feel working together and you can decide after that if you’d like to continue. I’m happy to say that every person has always come back for the next session, even if they found the first one something new or challenging.

The good news is, talking and expressing how you feel, works! This may be by talking, but for some it may be by being creative – looking at images or words that spark something or by drawing, writing or creating a story about the feelings or themes of an experience.

It’s a difficult thing to open up and talk to someone you’ve never met before, but that’s also the brilliant thing about therapy. I don’t know the school or college you go to, your friends or your family, and so this space is safe and just for you.

For parents & carers

I have worked as a therapist for over 15 years in schools, for charities and in private practice. I aim to create a gentle, supportive environment where young people feel safe to express, share and reflect on things that are worrying them.

I am in regular feedback with parents and carers to share the progress of the work and offer recommendations, where relevant, to support your child. Sessions are 50 minutes long and range from 6-8 sessions to ongoing longer-term work.

Here is what some people have said about therapy with me:

Kate is friendly and easy to talk to and open up to about my experiences. Maya, 15*

I’m learning things to calm down and how easy it is to trust someone. Dylan, 11*

Testimonials

Kate's therapy sessions were hugely successful in terms of understanding what was going on for children and providing them with useful tools by which to build resilience and self-confidence.

There were several ‘breakthrough’ episodes which I accredit Kate with unlocking through her gentle empathy, patience and skilled expertise.

I feel that Lyla* is much happier and is more reflective since working with Kate. She had a setback the other day and she talked it through with me so thoughtfully.
